During my master’s in audio engineering, I delved deep into the standards upheld in the music industry. Understanding these norms was crucial for me to grasp the intricacies of audio recording and mixing processes, both within digital environments (in the box) and analog setups (out of the box).

One of the most valuable aspects of the program was its emphasis on practical application. I had the opportunity to work hands-on with various recording and mixing techniques, gaining proficiency in both digital and analog equipment. This practical experience not only honed my technical skills but also instilled in me a deeper appreciation for the artistry involved in audio production.

Moreover, the master’s program provided me with ample opportunities to collaborate with fellow musicians and industry professionals. These collaborations allowed me to gain insights from different perspectives and learn from the experiences of others in the field.

Studying this programme gave me the much needed opportunity to focus, expand and reflect on my knowledge of electronic music production and audio engineering. The course has a good balance from the perspective of a creative artist, studio engineer or researcher. The experience has increased my skills and has led to greater artistic acclaim as a music producer/DJ, and opened up routes into the industry as a studio engineer and academic researcher. It has been an intensely challenging, rewarding and cherished time for me at UH.

Studying at Master level stimulated my interest in academic research into cymatics as a real-time, visual-music, performance art form. As a keen videographer and visual artist, my aim is to produce a functioning hybrid visual display of real-time cymatic formations, complementing a DJ or live electronic music performance.

Thank you for such an excellent course. You delivered such a high standard of education. I really enjoyed this course and got SO much from it! Every single seminar and assignment was pure gold and I feel so much more confident in my knowledge now.

When I signed up to do this masters, I wasn’t even sure if I would be able to finish it, let alone actually do well. I appreciate all your support, guidance and patience over this last year and really cannot thank you enough, this has been the best thing I’ve ever done for my career, confidence and education.

Besides the obvious technical benefits that such an endeavor encompasses, being immersed with like-minded individuals (both lecturers and students) in this discipline opened my eyes in so many different ways.
